Site Details
This reserve lies just to the east of Budleigh Salterton and contains the whole of the estuary of the River Otter, together with a small adjacent area of reedbed and grazing marsh. The estuary has more saltmarsh vegetation than any other in Devon and, together with the tidal mudflats, provides an important feeding and resting area for over-wintering birds.

Directions
Off the B3178, east of Budleigh Salterton. Grid ref SY076822Access
Footpaths lead along either side of the estuary, with viewing platforms on the western side and a hide on the east. The estuary can be crossed at its northern (inland) end at White Bridge. Allow about 45 minutes to walk to the north end and back again. There is no crossing point at the seaward end of the estuary. The path on the western (Budleigh) side is entirely flat and is built to a high standard, and the viewing platforms are accessible by wheelchair users. The path on the eastern side (which continues around the coast towards Ladram Bay and Sidmouth) is hilly in places and can get fairly muddy.Facilities
There are several viewing platforms on the western side and a hide on the east.Site Photographs
