Site Details
Ogston Reservoir is an SSSI. An inland reservoir, surrounded by woodland and farmland. Famous for winter gull roost, which may include Glaucous, Iceland, Mediterranean, Yellow-legged and Caspian Gulls. Good passage of waders in spring and autumn best seen on West Bank. Numerous warblers in spring and summer. Several species of wildfowl in winter. Adjacent to West Bank is Carr Wood; being a Derbyshire Wildlife Trust Reserve, access to permit holders only.

From the A61 Sheffield to Derby Road just south of Clay Cross, turn west on the B6014 heading west. Cross over the railway bridge and up the hill, turn left to continue on the B6014 signposted Tansley.Access
No access to water's edge. One public hide, 3 hides for Ogston Bird Club Members only. Good view from road on West Bank and Milltown Inlet.Parking
Please use car parks on the north side of reservoir or the car park on the west bank. There is no car park charge.Opening Times
Public hide summer 8am-8pm, winter 8am-6pm. View from road any time. Ogston Bird Club members access to club hides any time.Facilities
Toilet facilities in North car park and West bank car park (same hours as public hide).Key Areas / Routes
