The Spring-like feel of the lonning invites one to venture along it onto the wetland part of the Reserve. Today, the air was full of birds singing. Willow Warblers and Chiffchaff have already arrived. Equipment: Canon EOS 7D, Sigma DG 150 -500mm z
Norman (Cumbria RSPB Coastal Reserves Manager) and birdwatchers admiring the sign pronouncing funding for new Reserve visitor facilities now in the process of being installed
North Plain Barn renovation (new visitor facilities) in progress - end elevation.
New Solway Wetlands Centre part of the Solway Landscape Partnership Scheme. The Project was financed by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Natural England, The RSPB and Cumbria Waste Management Environment Trust.
New Wetlands Discovery Zone opened on 24th March 2015.
Recently installed stone circular viewing area with seat overlooking newly excavated shallow pools to encourage breeding Curlew and Snipe.
New Boardwalk across the Moss which joins up with the existing one making for a circular route (Red Route) round the Reserve, which takes in a range of different habitats.
Gateposts recently installed at the entrance to the Discovery field.
Spring has arrived at the Wetlands Centre.
