Site Details
Lighthouse on the south entrance to the River Tees. Breakwater with offshore rocks holding roosting gulls, waders and terns at high tide. Bran Sands excellent for feeding waders throughout the year and roosting terns in early autumn.

Directions
Take minor road to Warrenby, past Coatham Marsh on left. Turn at right roundabout past council depot. Follow right out towards the gare. Park by the side of the road on the breakwater.Access

Cafe at the boatyard, with toilets.Key Areas / Routes
Bran Sands: Great Knot, Short-billed Dowitcher and Caspian Tern seen in recent years. River mouth good for skuas and terns in early autumn. Cabin rocks - Good for migrants particularly Wheatears. Rocky islands to right of breakwater excellent for roosting waders and gulls. Sheltered bay can hold grebes and divers in the winter.Site Photographs
