Site Details

Dinton Pastures and Lavell's Lake are adjacent areas separated by Sandford Lane. Lavell's Lake (LL) is probably part of Dinton Pastures (DP), although LL has its own conservation group called Friends of Lavell's Lake. DP has a pay-and-display car park off the B3030 at SU784718, and LL has a free car park on the north side of Sandford Lane at SU785727, opposite the Black Swan Sailing Club entrance, and there are a couple of lay-bys further along the lane between DP and LL. LL is shown on the map with "Sandford Mill" written right across it, but this is a building to the west of LL. Tern hide/scrape is at the southeast end of LL, and Teal hide/scrape is at the northwest end. The main lakes in DP are: Sandford:SU782727; White Swan SU781722 and; Black Swan SU777722. Sandford also has a little-used (by birders anyway) hide on its south bank.
