BirdGuides, Europe's leading birding news website and sightings service, is searching for a new recruit.

We are looking for a keen birder to join our bird news team on a part-time basis to help notify the nation's birders of breaking sightings from across Britain and Ireland.

The BirdGuides bird news service prides itself on providing accurate, up-to-date and reliable information. Customers are treated to unrivalled accuracy, owing to our detailed reporting and accurate map pinning. Thanks to the committed work of our sightings team, it has never been easier to navigate to the exact location of a rare or interesting bird – this is your opportunity to become part of that team.

As Britain's foremost bird news service, BirdGuides breaks sightings to keen birders 16 hours a day, 365 days a year. As part of our sightings team, your job will primarily involve running the sightings service. Days are split into two separate eight-hour shifts – running from 07:00-15:00 and 15:00-23:00. Applicants will be expected to have the availability to work some weekends.

An average shift can see in excess of 250 sightings reported, so applicants will need to be familiar with information technology and proficient in grammar and spelling skills to communicate news effectively to customers. Being an enthusiastic and experienced birder with a thorough background knowledge of British and European birds is a vital component. An understanding of current bird news services is desired.
