Part of a major Surrey fishery is for sale as the owners look to turn the estate over to wildlife.

Bury Hill Fisheries, on the outskirts of Dorking, has been run as a coarse fishery for the past 50 years. The owners are selling property and land encompassing 7 ha, including a 200-year-old estate lake which boasts a heronry.

The owners of Bury Hill Fisheries intend on 'rewilding' much of the site (via Facebook).

The current owners are retaining the remainder of the estate and plan on turning the site over to wildlife, apparantly via 'extensive rewilding', according to the property description on RightMove. The fishery will cease operations in the autumn of this year.

Bury Hill Fisheries comprises several waterbodies, many with reedbeds. In recent years the complex has attracted Ring-necked Duck and Western Osprey.
