Suffolk Wildlife Trust (SWT) has launched a fundraiser to create an exciting new reserve on the banks of the River Deben.

Martlesham Wilds, as SWT has dubbed the area, consists of 116 ha of land within the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, across the river from the burial site of Anglo Saxon Royalty at Sutton Hoo.

Suffolk Wildlife Trust is aiming to wild some 116 ha of land bordering the River Deben near Woodbridge (SWT).

SWT describes Martlesham Wilds as "a landscape rich in nature and brimming with history", and plans to allow the patchwork of hedge-lined fields to gradually wild into "an intricate mosaic of natural habitats, maintained by grazing".

To help fund the Martlesham Wilds project, SWT needs to raise £1,000,000 and is appealing the to the public to donate to the cause. You can make a contribution here.
