A pair of Mistle Thrushes has hatched four chicks in a nest built in the unusual setting of a traffic light.

The birds set up shop in the amber section of the light in Leeds, West Yorkshire, and the young are thought to have hatched during Storm Dennis – quite apt for a bird traditionally known as 'stormcock'. Since then, the parents have been seen taking food into the nest.

The female was first spotted as she sat on the eggs in the light box, seemingly unbothered by the constantly changing pattern of the lights. The pair's early brood seems to be in a safe spot, largely protected from both the wind and rain.
