The International Birdwatching and Nature Tourism Fair will take place on the Po Delta in Italy from 1-4 May, set in fantastic wetland bird habitat.

Part of the region's three-month Primavera Slow festival, the bird fair will be the most important date on the event's calendar, and will hold many stalls and marquees featuring optic displays, photographic equipment, outdoor clothing retailers, and ecological and tourism organisations, as visitors have come to expect from the event on the six previous occasions.

The 2014 edition is carried out in collaboration with EBN Italy (the country's main birdwatching organisation) and will host two new pavilions, Green Jobs and Birdwilde, the latter highlighting Europe's best birding destinations. There will also be guided tours of the delta's expansive fresh, brackish and salt water wetlands.

This year's International Birdwatching and Nature Tourism Fair will aim to promote the UNESCO MAB directory of biosphere reserves, explaining the work they do and encouraging people to visit the worldwide network of key biodiversity sites.

While the bird fair lasts a long weekend of four days, Primavera Slow will continue until 22 June, with other events of interest to birders and nature lovers.  Visit their websites at www.primaveraslow.it and www.podeltabirdfair.it to view a full itinerary of events.
