Hide vandalised at Tittesworth Reservoir

A hide has been vandalised at Tittesworth Reservoir in Staffordshire.

The structure by the visitor centre was purposefully damaged under the cover of darkness on Tuesday 17 November. PCSO Rebecca Gorman of Staffordshire Police said: "Between 5 pm on Monday 16th and 8 am on Tuesday 17th, damage has been caused to a bird hide at Tittesworth Visitors Centre.


A hide at Tittesworth Reservoir was vandalised last week (Paul Ashwin / geograph.org.uk).

"Should anyone have any information, please get in touch with Staffordshire Police on Facebook, Twitter or by calling 101 and quoting incident 211 of November 17."

Situated in the upper part of the River Churnet valley just north of Leek, Tittesworth Reservoir is one of the few large areas of open water in north Staffordshire. There are two hides at the site. The incident at Tittesworth in the latest of a spate of hide vandalism this year, including damage at sites in Gloucestershire, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Perthshire.
