Bird Photographer of the Year 2021 winners announced


The winners of the latest Bird Photographer of the Year (BPOTY) competition have been announced.

Alejandro Prieto earns the Overall Winner title with his striking image entitled Blocked, which features a Greater Roadrunner stood at a new section of the USA-Mexico border wall. His image also won Gold Award in the Birds in the Environment category and tells an important story of habitat fragmentation.

Young Bird Photographer of the Year is 17-year-old Levi Fitze for his image Morning Lek, a powerful capture of male Black Grouse set in spectacular scenery.

UK photographer Kevin Morgans wins the Best Portfolio award for his jaw-dropping collection of Puffin shots, which showcase his ability to work with effective light.
