I meant to send this in earlier but forgot about it. Last June I was photographing birds on my lawn when I watched a female blackbird acting like a song thrush by eating garden snails. Unlike the song thrush she had not learned to use a rock to smash the snails on and so was trying to do it by bashing it on the lawn. It took her a good 10 minutes and even then half was left in the shell. Even so, it didn't put her off as a little while later she was at it again. Is this new?
