Another lucky catch. This Tawny Owl was sitting with its back to us, a little above head height on our walk up from the Derwent Water shore near Catbells. Crept up a little bank in front of the tree , a mere ten feet away. thought he would fly, but he sat there letting both of us shoot away for five minutes. He has a vole or mouse in the claw and a fly on that too ! my first close view of a Tawny Owl.
