Further to my recent stonechats on ice images I am uploading further images to show what the stonechats were feeding on. The birds were catching water beetles from a hole in the ice as the beetles surfaced to take on air supplies. A clever strategy by the stonechats enabling them to hopefully survive the Arctic conditions. If anyone out there can identify the beetle I would be grateful.
