Canon 1Dmk IV, Canon 600mm, ISO 640, f/5.0, 1/250sec This picture is taken from a floating hide in Båtsfjord harbour, courtesy of www.arctictourist.no. Båtsfjord is one of the the best places in Varanger during winter to observe arctic sea ducks. The floating hide sits just 10 inches above the water, allowing you to take images at a "duck's eye view". We made our way to the hide under the cover of darkness and waited two hours before the light was adequate enough to start taking photographs. As the morning progressed light snow started to fall, giving the image a true arctic feel.
