Please CC any comments you send to Paul to webmaster@birdguides.com - Thanks (Eds.) This plover's been tantalising me for the last couple of days and exhibits some features of Pacific Golden, not that I'm going to stick my neck out without seeing any more conclusive features. It differs markedly from all 400 Golden Plover in the flock in its noticeably smaller size, considerably coarser, brighter spangling on upperparts as opposed to fine spotting of Goldens, and yellower head markings. The bill and legs also look rather long, although the tertial length/primary extension are not convincing from what I've seen of them. Although this may turn out to be just a very strange Golden I think it warrants extra attention, and I would welcome any comments on its identity.
