I took this picture at dusk and rather far away; it is therefore of rather poor quality but I have submitted it because it shows the black on the underparts well.. The bird has turned up in October in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009 but this is my first spring record. Perhaps this bird might be a female. I have submitted other pictures showing other detils pointing, I think, towards Pacific Golden Plover, but I may be making a complete fool of myself. All these pictures have been shown to the Italian birdwatchers responsible for the National list. I cannot eliminate a hybrid Pacific x Golden because I have never seen the underwing. It just doesn't raise it wings when at rest and leaves after dusk.
