Taken on 31/10/2009
I took this picture at dusk and rather far away; it is therefore of rather poor quality but I like the long legs. I think the bill length when projected backwards reaches beyond the eye. The tibia seems to be feathered and to be longer than the bill. The bird has turned up in October in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009 but this is my first spring record. I thought, by comparison with photographs that this species taken in the Siberian tundra, that it may be a female, but that may be pushing my luck !
