I took this picture at dusk and it is therefore of rather poor quality but I like the contrast in size to the two Golden Plovers. I think the bill length when projected backwards reaches beyond the eye. The bird has turned up in October in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009 in exactly the same spot in a saline lagoon that I watch several times a week. I also saw it in early May 1 km NW on permanent grassland below the dunes, again at dusk.
