One of the three putative Eastern/Siberian Chiffchaffs at this site. All three birds were striking in their paleness, showing only a very restricted amount of dull green in the tertials/secondaries, being predominantly brown, grey and buff in colour. (This photo has only been cropped, sharpened and filtered for noise, and truly represents the plumage colour of this individual.) No, I did not hear the birds call, and any Pied Wagtail-type call may have emanated from that species (which was also present). The light was dreadful and this shot may have been taken on ISO 800/1600.
