A closer crop of one of my shots from yesterday. An incredibly difficult bird to see, probably because not displaying this year. Last weekend, a typical one: Saturday, watched from 10:30 - 17:30, no Honey Buzzard seen. Sunday: arrived 9:30, 5 Common Buzzard in air at same time at 11:50, after they disappear then a lone bird seen circling high and distant, wings not raised. Its the Honey Buzzard! Drive further up road in hope it comes round, not seen, starts to rain at 1pm, drive back to previous spot, as park car a bird is seen flying low and fast towards the car, jump out car and rattle off some shots. Yep, the Honey Buzzard again. Lucky that I arrived just in time. I must be nuts!
