The BTCs are a regular winter visitor to Oahu in small numbers (we counted 10 individuals), but only easily found up near Kahuku on the northeast shore. Sometimes these birds skulk in the marshes and grasslands of the Reserve, but on the day of our visit a bird census in the Reserve meant the birds were flushed out, and three of them decided to perch on the gravestones in the nearby Japanese cemetery..... Lucky...
