Juv moulting to 1W- record shot in the gloom. Even on this one poor shot you can see the dark ear coverts forming something of a mask-especially behind the eye, thick bill with quite a strong gonys angle, and a 'full' 'square' head. This bird also had dark underwing coverts and lacked a pale panel at the base of the primaries. It was taken on a day when at least 4 other YLG's were present on the same lake but this was the only juv, corresponding with south-bound LBB Gull passage- YLG's move through Lincs in good numbers throughout Aug/Sept, Casps are occasionally seen then but they are far more regular in the winter months.
