A large falcon at Filey yesterday caused some consternation. It lingered on the cliffs long enough for the attached photograph. In flight, the finder [Lez Gillard] considered that a 'Saker' type falcon was likely. Other observers leant towards Gyr and the photo tends to suggest that might be closer to the mark. Obviously there were no signs of captive origin on this juv/immature. An unconfirmed report of a Gyr nearby on 3rd has prompted a quick submission for comment.
