This really was one in a million, unexpected catch. Bassenthwaite Lake last August, looking for the Osprey, heard strange noise in a tree, out flew what first looked like a sparrowhawk. landed on one of the posts near the shore, I crept across the long grass clicking away, still not sure until nearer , clicked so many shots. other half called out did you see that small bird fly in? I think so ! but clicking so quick hard to tell. went back sat down and looked at the shots. I had never seen a Cuckoo except in the distance, let alone get this shot ! Couldn't believe my luck!
