This is the bird that I studied on a daily basis for more than 3 weeks and shared with numerous other birders and photographers who asked to accompany me. I t was a wonderful experience to be able to watch him with others who hadn't seen one before. I placed the dead Hawthorn he is perched on, firstly 50 feet or so away, and then on a daily basis over 21 days moved it a foot nearer, eventually the bird was happy to land on his favourite perch now just in front of me. It was a long drawn out affair but well worth it in the end. Unfortunately the whole thing ended in an a bit of upset and I wash't able to continue my study before he left on migration.
