This species rarely winters here but does breed in small numbers. Peak Spring passage is in the 2nd half of March (about 50 birds being seen on any one day), neatly avoiding peak Greater Ringed Plover passage, which occurs at similar volume in the first half of May. Greater Ringed Plover does not breed but returns in autumn in late August (about 20 in a day) whilst similar numbers of Little Ringed Plovers pass in July and early August .
