Juvenile - first winter Rough-legged Buzzard found by Karen Mather off Smithy Lane/Withens Lane End 1km west of Ringstone Edge on 13th October, the day after the Great-northern Diver turned up at Ringstone. Unfortunatly Karen did not know who to contact on the day but did manage to get these superb shots of the bird which was present from at least 11AM until dusk. Unfortunatly there was no sign of the bird the next day or thereafter. Whether or not it is the same bird that was near Bacup also on 13th is unkwown. What a great record from a non-birder (she is now)! Karen has given her permission to send the photo to Bird Guides.
