During the icy weather we had at least three bitterns on the Eastern reed bed. The dominant bittern spent much of its time pursuing the other bitterns and in this case chased another bittern onto the ice where it struck it several times with it's bill, eventually driving it off to the other side of the reed bed. The shot was taken from over a 150 metres away and has had to be cropped somewhat bt thought it of interest to share the image (one of several of the attack).
