Dispite Great egrets declared as a common bird by birdguides, they are still rare in Greater Manchester. There is only twoy sightings I'm aware of this year! The first was in spring and didn't show on the bird news at all even though it created a lot of interest, and sadly, I missed out because of. A big relief and a suprise I had when one turned up on my local patch and hung around for a few days. It happens a little egret passed by at this moment of taking the picture, giving a nice contrast to the size difference.
