It was a total surprise to see this tiny chick emerge from a reed bed so my wife grabbed her camera and with the help of an converter because of distance managed a few shots of the chick hunting food among the grass stalks. Here it has spotted a tiny fly on the head of a stem of grass and was about to grab it. It was successful as this photos prove. It required a leap on those frail tiny legs but not no knees bend he went straight up.
Equipment
Cannon 7D 600 mm lend with converter and a very steady tripod as she is in her seventies and her hands tremble. Rather like mine as I too am in my mid seventies. Despite some infirmity we work on the basis that we do not want to exist until we die but we want to live until we die.
