Sanderling by Antony Ward
This week's winning shot is of a species that is relatively easy to photograph, so it has to be something more than a simple portrait to catch the eye. Antony Ward has achieved just that with his wonderful capture of a Sanderling racing along the shore.
Trying to get a shot of this species running isn't that difficult, but taking one as good as this with both feet off the ground, in side-on profile and with everything nicely sharp is no mean achievement.
Congratulations to Antony on his Photo of the Week, taken with a 500 mm lens and 1.4x converter, and shot at 1/2000th second and f7.1 on ISO 500.
