Black Tern by Ian Bollen

It's hard to imagine taking a better image of a Black Tern than this one, taken recently at Frampton Marsh RSPB in Lincolnshire by Ian Bollen.

Ian has captured the young tern in a perfect post and with great light. Fantastic feather detail shows off the bird's pristine plumage, including the solid blackish 'crown' and grey rump, while the unusual background colour really makes this image stand out. What a brilliant and impactful winner!
