Little Owl by Peter Walkden

Little Owl

Little Owl is a popular subject for our Iris photographers, but we don't see too many flight shots; this week's winning image by Peter Walkden is a lovely example of such, this bird coming in to land on an old roof. I guess that the photographer knew whereabouts this individual was going to land, but it is still a tricky shot to take successfully.

The rain droplets greatly add to the capture and the ISO setting of 3200 shows how good the quality is at that speed.

Congratulations to Peter on his second Photo of the Week of 2016, which was taken with a 500mm lens at 1/1000th second at f5.6.
