European Robin by Carl Bovis
Somerset-based bird photographer, Carl Bovis, has been contributing entertaining (and sometimes quite quirky!) flight shots of garden birds to the BirdGuides gallery for several years now. His latest offering is this terrific European Robin, which he has caught in a pristine pose. The perfect light conditions have allowed Carl to use a shutter speed of 1/5000 to freeze the action – anything slower and motion would have been detectable, given the speed at which passerines fly. With the robin's tail cocked, the red of its breast positively glowing and a glint apparent in its eye, this is as good a flight shot as Carl could've hoped for. Congratulations!
