Grey Partridge by Peter Garrity

When was the last time you saw a Grey Partridge this well? Sadly, this farmland denizen is an all-too-scarce sight these days for most birders and getting views as good as this is a particularly rare treat. Peter Garrity recently took advantage of an opportunity to photograph a fine male at close range in South Yorkshire. In bright but neutral light conditions, Peter has caught the partridge's rich plumage colours well and with the bird's mouth open as it vocalises – this is a quality image that any UK bird photographer would be happy to take.
