Swarovski Optik Digiscoper of the Year 2014 winners revealed

The category winners and overall champion in the 2014 Swarovski Digiscoper of the Year award have been revealed.

The four category winners were as follows:

  • Behaviour & Action: Angie Luzader of the USA with a photo of a Great Egret entitled Fan of Feathers.

  • Mammals: Michael Gibson of Australia with a Rusa Deer titled Stag and his Crown.

  • Video: Jürgen Bergmann of Germany with a film featuring various bird species entitled Faszination Natur.

The overall winner was Jürgen Bergmann with his digiscoped video, which can be viewed below:

Jürgen won a first prize of a full set of digiscoping equipment consisting of an ATX or STX telescope, digiscoping adapter, telescope rail, tripod and head. The other three category winners all received an EL 32 binocular.

For the first time ever, a special award for digiscoping with a smartphone was presented. The winner was Sandra My with her image of a Swallow Tanager entitled Bon Apetit!
