Free Trials of BirdGuides Services

This page explains how to obtain free trials of BirdGuides' bird news services. In order to try a free trial, you will first need to register on the BirdGuides website, if you have not already done so. Registration is free, and takes only a few minutes (though you will need to wait for and respond to an automatic email to verify your registered email address).

Bird News Extra and Email Alert

The first time you log in to the Bird News Extra page you will be offered a free trial of Bird News Extra and Email Alert. Bird News Extra requires no further setting up, but in order to receive emails from Email Alert, you will subsequently need to visit the Email Alert setup page to tell the system which categories of reports you wish to receive.

If you do not subscribe, your free trial will expire after three days. However if you return to the Bird News Extra page one month or more after the end of your initial free trial, you will be granted a second "bonus" trial of one week.

For more information, see our introduction to Bird News Extra, our introduction to Email Alert, our list of Frequently Asked Questions and the Free Tour.

Bird News Anywhere

A free one-week trial of Bird News Anywhere is available when you first visit the Bird News Anywhere setup page and set up the service. Once your free trial has ended, you can either subscribe for a set period, or use the Pay-as-you-Go options.

For more information on Bird News Anywhere, see our introduction to the service and list of Frequently Asked Questions.

Bird Text Alert

No free trials of Bird Text Alert are currently available, though a one-month subscription to any of our services is available for a small fee.

For more information on Bird Text Alert, see our introduction to the service, the user guide, or our list of Frequently Asked Questions.

BirdGuides webzine

If you take out a free trial of any service, you will also have access to all articles in our webzine for the duration of your trial.

For a brief explanation and comparison of the different services, see our introduction to bird news services; for a more detailed comparison, click here.
