Mac OS X 10.7 Lion

All of our current program versions will run on Max OS X 10.7 Lion, but BWPi 2.0.1 and earlier will not. Please see http://www.birdguides.com/bwpi/knownissues.asp.

Older versions and Mac OS X

Unfortunately Mac OS X is not backward-compatible with Mac OS 9, and the version of "Classic" OS 9 packaged with it will not run our programs either. We have recompiled the following programs to run directly on Mac OS X:

• all Version 7 programs
• the CD-ROM Concise Guide to British Birds
• the CD-ROM Guide to Eastern Birds
• the CD-ROM Guide to British Butterflies

These will work on 10.3.x (Panther) and 10.4.x (Tiger), but unfortunately will not now work on Apple's OS X 10.5.x (Leopard) and later. Please email us at quoting the program title and your full postal address for a copy of an OS X Updater CD if you have 10.3.x or 10.4.x and one of the programs above, or for the options available to you if you have 10.5.x or later.

The following programs all work directly on Leopard 10.5.x. and later:

• BWPi 2.0.2
• the DVD-ROM Guide to British Birds (version 9)
• British Birds interactive (BBi)
• British Butterflies - an interactive guide
• Breeding Birds of Britain and Ireland
• Breeding Birds of the Western Palearctic.

Older Mac OS 9 machines

We have found that some Macintosh computers with USB ports seem to "freeze" when launching our products. They get to the splash screen with the progress bar, but no further. We have been working hard to find the solution to this problem and think that we have found it:

1. Click to download the USB Floppy Enabler.
2. Once the file has downloaded "unzip" it using a program such as Stuffit Expander or Zipit.
3. Once the file is unzipped copy the contents into the Extensions folder in your System Folder.
4. Restart your Macintosh.
