The installation and running instructions can be found in the CD- or DVD-ROM case front insert. Also check the Help and Readme files before use.

In all cases you need to run the Setup application on the CD- or DVD-ROM:

1. Insert the disk into the drive.
• If you see an an Auto-Run window, click Open Folder to view Files.
• If not, click Start > My Computer and double-click on the DVD drive icon to view the files.
2. When you see a list of files on the disk, double-click the Setup application file.
3. With the exception of the CD-ROM Guide to All the Birds of European Birds Version 7, all our current programs offer you the option of installing the Full Data to your hard drive. This is recommended on all modern PCs with large hard drives, as the program will run much faster, but please be aware that the full data files may take some considerable time to install.

To run the program, double-click on the desktop shortcut. If there isn't one, click Start > All Programs > BirdGuides and start the relevant program from there.

If you have not installed the full data to your hard drive, you will need to insert the CD/DVD-ROM disk in the drive each time you use the program.

Error message 'Unable to install this VB6 application without the latest service pack'

If you see this error message when running the Setup program, it usually means that the product is not compatible with the operating system you are using and you probably need to upgrade to the current version - see our Upgrades page.
