IdentificationThey aren't difficult to identify by sight: the broad white eyestripe is much bolder than in any other British warbler and the streaked upperparts are also characteristic. They are a duller brown than the Moustached Warbler and don't have such a contrasting head pattern. They also lack the pale central stripe and pale mantle lines of an Aquatic Warbler. HabitatBreeds in rank vegetation, usually near water. BehaviourSometimes performs brief song flights, leaping up from the normal song post then flapping erratically back down again. MigrationAll birds are migratory wintering in sub-Saharan Africa from Senegal east to Ethiopia. This information is taken from the BirdFile on the appropriate BirdGuides DVD-ROM. As well as video and sounds, our CD- and DVD-ROMs contain additional text on Voice, Sexing, Ageing, Food, Nests and Eggs and more.
