Spring 2008 saw Rustic Bunting, Short-toed Lark, Rosy Starling, Melodious Warbler, Several Orioles and many commoner migrants. Good numbers of migrants present during autumn and always the chance of a rarity. Recent goodies include Paddyfield Warbler (Oct 2008 AND 2009!), American Robin, Booted, Subalpine (Already one male this year), Lanceolated, Greenish Warblers, Little Bunting, Snowy Owl, Great Snipe, Red-throated, Olive-backed and Blyth's Pipits, Little Shearwater, Wilson's Petrel and Black-browed Albatross.Also Radde's Warblers, Bonelli's Warbler, Short-toed Lark, Hundreds of Balearic Shearwaters and much more! With an adult male RED FLANKED BLUETAIL October 2007, Black Kite, TEN Glossy Ibises in 2009 who could ask for more? What's more it is the only place in the UK where you can see FLOCKS of Grasshopper Warblers (at new moon periods during lighthouse attractions). Also experience the sight and sound of a large Manx Shearwater colony where 32,000+ birds visit the island on dark moonless nights during the summer months.
