Pictures and movies do not appear when using QuickTime 7.2

Unfortunately, QuickTime version 7.2 inadvertently introduced path problems causing pictures and videos not to work correctly with this product. Apple have now fixed this problem with their latest version, QuickTime 7.3.

You can download the latest QuickTime from www.apple.com/quicktime/download - untick the "Sign up" selections as required, and click the Free Download Now button.

Thumbnail/Species/Quad View mode shows single asset only

When the product is closed in Single View mode only, on restarting the program selecting Thumbnail mode (or any other view mode) only displays one asset. Clicking on another species will repopulate the Browser view correctly.

Program not responding

Some older Windows PCs may exhibit intermittent problems with the program not responding. This is usually a QuickTime settings problem, and can be rectified by optimising the QuickTime settings:

  1. Exit the BirdGuides program if necessary.
  2. From Start > Control Panel in "Classic View", double-click the QuickTime "blue Q" icon:

  3. In the QuickTime Preferences window, select the Advanced tab.
  4. In the Video section, select Safe mode (GDI only), then click OK.
