Changing Preferences

Select Preferences from the Features Menu to open the preferences window. A series of tabs along the top of the dialog gives you access to several settings which control the way BBi runs and displays assets.

Application and Asset Display Settings

General - Sets the background colour of the browser in Full Screen mode and allows you to specify which settings are saved when you exit.

Viewers - Allows you to set the play behaviour of media assets such as auto-play and looping.

How to Change the Data Locations

All publication and species asset information is located under the \Data folder of your installation. This may be on your DVD ROM or on the Hard Drive depending on whether you chose to Copy Data to Hard Drive at installation time.

Other asset information such as Updates and user data is located in the appropriate folders of your installation. Again this may be on your DVD ROM or on the Hard Drive depending on whether you chose to Copy Data to Hard Drive at installation time.

If you choose to copy the various data to other locations on your system then you must ensure that BBi knows about the new location.

To do this select the Paths tab on the preferences dialog.

You can enter the full path of the new locations in each of the Data Path fields at the top of the screen or alternatively you can browse and select them by clicking on the (...) button. The selected folder must contain the BBi publication sub-folders - Volumes, Species etc.

By using the tick boxes to the left of the data paths you can control what information is made available for display. Note that if the same asset exists in each of data areas, then there is a precedence where by Updates supersedes Data. This allows newer more up to date information to be displayed in preference while still maintaining the original data if required.

For user data you can also specify the paths where the specific asset, snapshot and list data is located.
