VB6 error message

If you are experiencing this error message when trying to install your BirdGuides product, it usually means that the product is not compatible with the operating system you are using. Some of our products have special installers to enable their use on Windows 2000 and Windows XP. If you are using either of these operating systems, you can check to see if your product has an installer by clicking here. Follow the instructions below to download and run the installer.

Alternatively, if you have Windows XP and your product does not have an installer, you can use the Program Compatibility Mode. Click here for instructions.

Downloading the Windows 2000/XP installers

You will first need to install a programme called Winzip on your system as the installer files are compressed and will need this programme to 'unzip' the file. If you do not have it, you can download it for free from www.winzip.com.

1. Visit www.birdguides.com/html/support/w2k.asp and click on the appropriate installer for your product.
2. Save the downloaded file to your computer where you will be able to find it i.e., your Desktop or My Computer.
3. Place the BirdGuides CD-ROM in the CD drive.
4. Double click on the downloaded file icon to open it in Winzip and a window will open containing the file.
5. Double click the file to run the application.
6. Enter the drive letter of your CD/DVD drive in the box when asked and continue following the instructions on the screen.
7. Once the product has started to install, continue accepting the default settings.
8. You should now be able to try the product. See the instructions inside the CD insert for how to run the program once installed.
