Installation errors

Installation errors on Windows 3.1x "Undefined Dynalink" or "COMPOBJ.DLL - this DLL is out of date" or "TYPELIB.DLL - this DLL is out of date"

Cause: The system file COMPOBJ.DLL or TYPELIB.DLL is already in use - e.g. if the Microsoft Office toolbar is running - and hence the file cannot be replaced by the installer.

Solution: Exit to DOS, and manually copy COMPOBJ.DLL or TYPELIB.DLL from the BirdGuides CD-ROM to the WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder. For example:

copy d:\birds16\system\compobj.dll c:\windows\system

Then restart Windows and try running the BirdGuides application.
