Gosney goes to China

He's off again! The new visa in Dave's passport that he is proudly brandishing is for China. This is a great time for filming migrants passing through China and he is off there for two weeks in search of some species that occasionally turn up in Britain as rare vagrants.

At the same time we are making film number eleven in our Gosney In... series of birdwatching adventures. Director/Cameraperson this time is Franny Armstrong who bravely agreed to step in at the last moment. Justin Badger, who filmed Gosney In Turkey and Gosney In Britain was scheduled to go, but instead he has to stay locked up in a dark room editing a series about St Paul's Cathedral! He has been promised another filming trip to the destination of his choice to compensate for missing the China adventure with Dave.

We are hoping that Dave and Franny will be able to get online in China and send us an email to say how the trip is going. Keep checking back in the news section for the latest update. With luck they should be able to film species such as Yellow-browed Warbler, Olive-backed Pipit and Siberian Rubythroat.

STOP PRESS - NEWS FROM DAVE

Having a great time but the birds have been rather elusive so far; pipits that don't land, thrushes that don't come out from the backs of bushes, waders that won't let you approach them - you get the idea.

I have managed to film a few species at least, especially buntings, flycatchers and warblers, but the rarer warblers have proved tricky. Some of the better species I have managed to film include Pallas's Warbler, Yellow-browed Warbler, Radde's Warbler, Dusky Warbler and Siberian Rubythroat. I've also managed to get some close-ups of a Pacific Golden Plover.
