BWPi: Birds of the Western Palearctic interactive 2.0

BirdGuides Ltd

BWPi is the most comprehensive multimedia reference work ever published, covering every species you are ever likely to encounter in Europe. Definitive information on over 970 species, six million words of text, over 5,500 annotated illustrations, over 2,700 video clips, maps, comprehensive audio recordings and powerful new software features compatible with both Windows and Macintosh.
  • It's bigger! In version 2.0 the entire contents of the BWPi 2006 disk have been added to the original BWPi to make a single integrated DVD-ROM.
  • It's even better! The texts have been updated to cover recently 'split' species and to include the latest population data. There are hundreds of new video clips. And all 6 volumes of the journal BWP Update are now included.
  • Now you can add your own content! A new feature of the 2.0 software is the facility to drag and drop your own photographs, video clips, sound recordings and texts so that they seamlessly integrate with the rest of BWPi's encyclopaedic content. Imagine integrating your own personal photo library with this definitive reference.

Just to update this, Yes the current version of BWPi is Windows 7 64bit compatible.
Only older BWPi versions 2.0.1 and earlier need to run the 64 bit patch

Dear Richard. Yes it does, but you do need to apply a patch for it to run smoothly. See here: www.birdguides.com/bwpi/faq.

Does the latest Version of BWPi work with Windows 7 64 bit?

You're right - the quality of the clips is (by necessity) variable. We are constantly updating our filming gear, and so some of the thousands of video clips are better than others.

Just to update this , the Distribution maps update was made available for all registered BWPi users in May 2008. Please follow the Updates link from the BWPi web page or go to www.birdguides.com/bwpi/updates. All the latest BWPi 2.0.1 disks now include the new distribution maps format.
