Home > Coast-to-Coast > 7: Kirby Stephen to Muker
Fairly bright weather as we walked through Hartley and up the long quarry road (where we saw a Red Squirrel). As we reached the Nine Standards it rained quite heavily but the views were quite good. Very boggy moorland, and Whitsundale was similarly wet. Ravenseat very pleasant as was the field walk from there down to the Keld road. Had a second sock change at Keld then walked the pleasant stage down the Swale to Muker - quite tired by the end.
We had a couple of pints in the Farmers Arms, where we realised that the LMA are just a few miles down the road at Low Row - but no mobile signal so couldn't arrange to meet up. We checked in at the B&B where we found that we'd been given a four-poster double bed (we'd known that we'd be sharing a double bed, but hadn't expected a lacy honeymooners' job). Then back to the Farmers for a very nice dinner (chicken pie). We met two guys walking the second half of the C2C at breakfast.
Weather: dry and occasionally bright, with one heavy shower mid-day. Walk: 8/10. Mood: 7/10. Cumulative distance: 91 miles.
